Different changes in climate lead to the downfall in the overall growth of crops. We all know that crops need better weather conditions alongside adequate water and fertile land. When the weather gets rough, it will have a great negative effect on crops and their expected growth which is surely a setback for farmers, agriculture, and the overall economy. Weather changes include rise and fall in temperature, unexpected heavy or less rainfall, and harsh weather situation that can be dangerous for the sustainable progress of the whole crop.

    Cereal crops:

For centuries, cereal crop which includes wheat, rice, and barley are basic human needs in terms of food. They are a great source of all necessary nutrients which are beneficial for your well-being and health. Still, these crops are getting affected by unprecedented weather conditions which leads to less production than usual. Shifting the production and farming of these cereal crops can be a good option to cope with this issue and to prevent the crops from damage and loss.

    Magnus Goransson’s research:

Magnus and his friends researched professionally over this international issue which is having worse so before finding its cure it was necessary to investigate the root cause and consequences of this problem. They ferret out how changes in temperature and climate affect it, how its altitudes change, and affect its growth in which density.

Furthermore, they also explored that this is not climatic change that affects crop’s growth but we need to make our crops adjustable with the weather to avoid this problem.

How to prevent barley crop from losses:

According to their research, they evaluated that those crops which they harvest in Iceland or northern areas were more effective but due to storm and unusual weather conditions, farmers loose a great quantity which was not in a state to harvest. They concluded that these crops should be harvested before the time to prevent from such failures and losses. He believe that if the crop gets ready farmers shouldn’t wait for it’s harvesting process, with this technique no crop and efforts of farmers will go into vain. Additionally, despite of these issues and factors, these cereal crops are still higher growth, profitable and most healthy to eat crops in higher areas.

    Experimentation:

It was also a noticeable factor that farmers need to get those plants which can get the result before the time in a particular climate. So researchers tried to do a experiment in which they took four different plant on which they performed an experiment and place them both in different environments to know whether they perform as expected or not. For an interval of time in an Iceland in competition with each other to find out which one is most effective for production of better cereal crops. In a temperature of 50 to 68° f, and approximately a whole day, they examined each plant to get the results of its ideal height, maturity period and other necessary factors necessary for the development of a crop from start till the end.

    Field experiment on barley:

This experiment was done on barley seeds to find out the genetics and natural characteristics of a plant or seed which helps to grow it in different climatic conditions.

This studies was to consciously examine it’s characteristics to generate valid results which will later helps the agriculturalists and experts to produce such elements artificially. Moreover, the main reason of this study was to get a clear idea about maturity period and growth details of cereal crops and factors involved in it.

He concluded his stance with some relevant facts which says that we have to admit that an improved and better growth of barley seeds is only possible in northern cold climate areas so the only way to get it’s desired growth in hot weather is to harvest it before the time. But he also emphasized on having an antidote for this problem or to give the same cold environment to this crop by finding it’s gene and crucial qualities. For sure, one thing is commendable that this whole research was extremely effective for getting a clear picture of issues faced by cereal crops and the reasons involved in it. This study will be quite beneficial for those who are into it and for producing the best possible alternatives for this global issue.
